Development, Fundraising and Special Events Internship

The Development, Fundraising and Special Events intern will gain insight into the inner workings of a successful development team. Collaborating with seasoned professionals, Board members, high-level donors and volunteers, and an extensive network of resources within the Greater Boston area, s/he will provide assistance in all aspects of development and events work, including donor relations, proposal development, and Pie in the Sky - Community Servings' renown Thanksgiving bake sale that raises $435,000, or 17% of our annual operating budget.

This position is an ideal opportunity for an individual wanting to gain solid professional skills while jumpstarting a career in non-profit development and special events.
 

Position Responsibilites

Assist in the planning and implementation of Pie in the Sky:
o Interact with volunteer event committees.
o Help prepare performance reports and other materials for weekly committee meetings.
o Help solicit raffle prize donations.
o Assist with event follow-up.
o Perform data entry.
o Write and send press releases.

Provide administrative support for Development department:
o Assist with donor acknowledgments and other correspondence.
o Perform data entry and filing.
o Assist with departmental mailings including invitations, proposals, newsletters, various marketing materials, etc.
o Assist with web 2.0 marketing sites, including Twitter, Facebook and Good2Gether.
o Perform general office duties, including phone work.


Position Requirements

o Current or recent undergraduate or graduate student.
o Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, etc.
o Meticulous attention to detail.
o Excellent interpersonal, writing and communications skills.
o Professionalism and punctuality.
o Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings.
o Ability to work independently within the framework of a project.
