20th Anniversary LifeSavor Awards

Community Servings proudly announces that Joan H. Parker and Anthony Corey received the first ever “LifeSavor Award” at the 20th Anniversary of our spring gala, LifeSavor, on Thursday, May 31, 2012.

The LifeSavor Award is given to recognize volunteers who have made a significant impact on Community Servings’ mission and programs over the past 22 years. Mrs. Parker and Mr. Corey’s early commitment to Community Servings mission had a tremendous impact on the agency’s fundraising success, including keeping fundraising cost at just five cents per dollar.

With their leadership, social capital and willingness to open up their homes and hearts to the needs of the community, LifeSavor has been able to raise 6.5 million dollars since 1993.

Joan Parker has served as LifeSavor co-chair for all 20 years. She also generously served as Board Member, Board Officer, co-chair of two Community Servings capital campaigns, and champion of young staff and new board members alike. In additional to her incredible role as community philanthropist, she played an influential role in the writing career of her late husband, author Robert B. Parker.

Tony Corey has served as a LifeSavor co-chair for 18 years consecutively. He has also served as Board Chair, Board Member and gracious host to all supporters. He is an accomplished artist, avid horseman, owner and founder of Anthony Corey Neckwear, and style commentator for print and television media.

David B. Waters, CEO of Community Servings, recently remarked, “Community Servings has been incredibly lucky to have Joan and Tony co-chair LifeSavor for the last 18 years. Their commitment to Community Servings and LifeSavor is directly linked to the growth of the event and raising our profile along with much needed friends to feed more of our critically ill neighbors. We feel blessed that they were willing to lend their reputation and prominence in the community to open doors for us as a young agency."
