From pie committee members ... to pie bakers ... to pie data entry folks ... to pie sellers ... to pie sorters ... to pie drivers ... to pie box labelers ... to pie pick-up site staffers ... hundreds of volunteers make Pie in the Sky possible. Thanks to their generous gifts of time, dedication and effort, $.92 of every $1.00 raised during the 2007 pie sale went to feeding Community Servings' clients.

Whether you prefer to work behind the scenes, want to reach out to your social network, or are looking for a group activity, there is a wide variety of volunteer opportunities that are crucial to the success of Pie in the Sky. See below for more details to find the task that works best for you!

Pie Seller - October - Thanksgiving
Become a pie seller on your own or form a Pie Selling Team. Register online by clicking here. This fall take orders for scrumptious apple, pecan, pumpkin or sweet potato pies, which can be picked up on the day before Thanksgiving at over 40 locations throughout the Greater Boston area. Be sure to take advantage of all of the on-line marketing tools available, including e-cards and personal fundraising pages. Data Entry - November
If you prefer behind-the-scenes work, have an eye for detail and are comfortable navigating a database, consider helping out with data entry. We need lots of hands to process 10,000 pie orders! Daytime, evening and weekend shifts are available at the Community Servings' facility in Jamaica Plain.

Pie Box Party - Saturday, November 14
Join us at the Greater Boston Food Bank's warehouse to help label and sort pie boxes, and then help us deliver the materials to participating pie bakers throughout Greater Boston. This is a great activity to do with friends and we need as many people with large vehicles as possible. This volunteer opportunity starts at 9am and delivery drivers head out around 12 pm.

Pie Baking - Friday-Sunday, November 20 - 22
Help bake and box pies at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) or in our Jamaica Plain kitchen. Available shifts are from 8am to 12 pm, or 12 pm to 4pm, Friday, 11/20 and Saturday, 11/21 at the Hynes Convention Center, and Saturday, 11/21 and Sunday, 11/22 at Community Servings.

Pie Pick-Up and Delivery - Monday-Wednesday, November 23 - 25
Do you have a good sense of direction (or a good GPS?) and the ability to stay calm in rush hour traffic? Help us during the home stretch of the pie sale by picking up and delivering pies to locations around Greater Boston. This is a two-person job and requires a vehicle --preferably a station wagon, minivan or SUV -- so bring a friend! Pies need to be picked up from participating bakers and delivered to Pie Central, located at the Park Plaza Castle in Back Bay. Also, completed pie orders need to be delivered from Pie Central to their designated pick-up sites.

Pie Central Set-Up - Monday, November 23
If you have a strong back for heavy lifting, help Community Servings transform the Park Plaza Castle into Pie Central. This will involve unloading trucks, assembling tables and getting the site ready for hundreds of volunteers to receive, inspect and distribute thousands of pies. This shift runs from 12 pm - 3pm.

Pie Sorting at Pie Central - Monday & Tuesday, November 23 - 24
More than 10,000 pies need to be quality-control checked, sorted by flavor and packaged for delivery to their designated pick-up sites. Get into the holiday spirit by working alongside hundreds of volunteers at the Park Plaza Castle in Boston's Back Bay. There will be good food, great music and of course, lots of pie! 

Pie Pick-up Site Staffing - Wednesday, November 25
There are various opportunities at pick-up sites around Greater Boston for volunteers to hand out pre-ordered pies to buyers and sell pies to passersby. Meet your fellow Community Servings supporters as they pick up their pies and help select a delicious feel good last-minute holiday treat.
