In addition to our regular meals, Community Servings is able to provide meals for clients with special dietary needs.   We do not use pork to prepare any of our meals. 

Please note: We are not a food allergen-free facility. Meals may contain traces of nuts, fish, dairy, and/or eggs. We are unable to accommodate gluten-free restrictions or wheat and soy intolerances and allergies. Soup may not always be provided due to dietary restrictions.

Below is a list of our special diet offerings. A combination of diets may be selected. We are generally able to accommodate up to 3 diet modifications.

  • Bland
    • For clients who may have sensitivities to heavy spices and salt, such as a client with high blood pressure, liver disease, or someone receiving treatment for head/neck or gastrointestinal cancers.
  • Chopped/Soft
    •  For clients who may have trouble chewing or cutting their own food.  It is not intended for dysphagia.
  •  Diabetic (Carbohydrate Controlled)
    •  For clients with diabetes (types 1 or 2).  They are high in fiber, and provide carbohydrates in the meals, snacks, & desserts consistent with healthy menu planning for those with diabetes. 
      • Soup and salad -- 45 grams carbohydrate
      • Entree -- 45-60 grams carbohydrate
      • Snacks -- 15-30 grams carbohydrate
      • Dessert -- 15-30 grams carbohydrate
  • Fishetarian
    • For clients who prefer vegetarian meals but also eat fish.
  • No Citrus/ No Tomato
    • For clients who are sensitive to acidic fruits and vegetables. 
       
  • No Dairy
    • For clients who have milk allergies, or are lactose intolerant. Although we do not cook with lactose free milk, it is an option for the weekly milk delivery.
  • No Egg
    • For clients with egg allergies. 
  • No Fish/ Shellfish
    • For clients who have allergies to fish or shellfish.
  • No Nuts
    • For clients who have nut (peanut or tree nut) allergies. 
  • No Poultry
    • For clients who prefer to avoid poultry (chicken, turkey, duck), or may have trouble chewing or eating poultry.
  •  No Red Meat
    • For clients who prefer to avoid red meat (beef, lamb), or may have trouble chewing or eating red meat.
  •  Low Fat
    • For clients who have heart disease, high cholesterol, or may have trouble digesting fat, such as a client with pancreatitis, liver or gallbladder problems, or is receiving treatment for lower gastrointestinal cancers.
  • Low Fiber
    • This diet restricts the amount of fiber in the meals and snacks.  This diet is intended for a client who has chronic diarrhea or is receiving treatment for lower gastrointestinal cancers. 
  • Low Vitamin K
    • For clients who take blood thinning medication (such as Coumadin, or Warfarin) and need to keep daily Vitamin K intake consistent. 
  • Renal
    • For clients who are receiving dialysis.  Foods and ingredients that are high in potassium, phosphorus, and sodium are restricted when we prepare these meals. 
  • Vegetarian
    • For clients who prefer a plant-based diet.  We use dairy and eggs to prepare some of these meals.
