Volunteer Management Coordinator

Massachusetts’ free, home-delivered meals program for the critically ill seeks a Volunteer Management Coordinator. Community Servings is a non-profit food and nutrition program focused on the nutritional needs of underserved populations across the state. The Volunteer Management Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all kitchen and delivery volunteers including, but are not limited to, the delegation of specific tasks and assignments to volunteers and working with the Kitchen Staff to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

Recruitment

  • Recruit individual and group volunteers by promoting Community Servings to partnering agencies and other organizations
  • Follow up with volunteer inquiries
  • Maintain and build relationships with volunteers
  • Maintain online calendars and scheduling

Coordination

  • Work with program, development, kitchen and operations staff to identify volunteer needs
  • Inform kitchen staff of upcoming volunteer groups and events
  • Maintain effective communication among volunteers, staff and clients
  • Schedule and confirm individual volunteers

Management

  • Welcome volunteers and assign duties/tasks in collaboration with kitchen staff
  • Work with the Kitchen and Delivery Staff on volunteer assignments
  • Provide necessary trainings for volunteers
  • Manage Meal Bag labeling
  • Enforce kitchen sanitation policies

Orientation

  • Design and conduct volunteer orientations

Recognition

  • Work collaboratively with the Manager of Volunteer Services, to manage a system of ongoing appreciation and recognition for volunteers
  • Identify and nurture leadership abilities in volunteers

Administrative

  • Complete any necessary volunteer documentation. (DTA, community service, and other agency verification)
  • Confirmation calls to groups and individuals
  • Provide weekly/monthly volunteer schedules
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and the Director of Client and Volunteer Services

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in program design and recruitment, building community based relationships and working with community based providers
  • Experience working with large groups and delegating tasks
  • Expertise in Windows and SalesForce

 

Education/Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years’ experience in the area of volunteer or project management or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Restaurant or related kitchen experience preferred.
