On May 13, the eight members of the second class of Community Servings' job training program graduated from their 12-week program.

Trainees, including Arthur Pina, pictured left, also helped to bake over 5,000 of Community Servings' signature chocolate cookies, which were distributed to AVON Walk for Breast Cancer participants.

According to Chef/Trainer Susan Logozzo, everyone in the class shined academically and overcame challenges including sporadic daycare availability and legal appointments.  Based on their skill levels, Susan believes that they're all very well prepared for the ServSafe food safety exam and that there is a place for each of them in the food-service industry.

After the graduation ceremony at Community Servings, the graduates were the special dinner guests of The Capital Grille, where they were treated to a feast by Executive Chef David Cox.  Since graduation, three students have accepted jobs and Community Servings continues to support the remaining job-seekers with resume writing, letters of reference, and job-searching assistance.

Our third class, which is the largest with 10 trainees, began on May 18.  Each member is enthusiastic and eager to learn.
