Chocolate Hummus

Chickpeas are an excellent source of plant protein and fiber. They are also super versatile and in this recipe we are using them to put a chocolate-twist on a classic dish — dessert hummus! Dessert hummus is a low-calorie dessert that is sure to be a hit at parties and with the whole family!

Ingredients (serves 6)

  • 15.5 oz. can garbanzo beans (also known as chickpeas), rinsed and drained
  • 1 tbsp. tahini
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp. water
  • 1 pinch kosher salt

Preparation

  1. Add garbanzo beans, tahini, vanilla extract, co-coa powder, water, and pinch of salt to a food processor.
  2. Turn the mixer on a process until smooth. Add more water if necessary.
  3. Add more honey (or maple syrup) to taste.
  4. Slice fruit for dipping.
  5. Enjoy!
