Individuals & Groups

Join Us In the Kitchen!

We rely on the generosity of individual volunteers and organized community groups to help our kitchen team prepare the nutritious food our critically and chronically ill clients need to improve and maintain their health.

We currently host up to 70 volunteers daily across multiple shifts to make 3,400 scratch-made medically tailored meals.

Right now, we can accommodate 30 volunteers in our kitchens at all times, including organized groups of up to 15 people.

Kitchen volunteers must be age 13+, and all new volunteers will receive an orientation from our team before the start of their shift.

All volunteers must be fully vaccinated and wear a face mask when inside our building. Required attire includes pants covering the ankles, long-sleeve shirts, and close-toed shoes. Hairnets and aprons will be provided.

Digital Literacy Support

More comfortable with computers than the kitchen?

Our Teaching Kitchen job-training program needs volunteers to support trainees in gaining digital literacy skills. Volunteers help trainees with tasks such as searching for job postings, completing online job applications, creating email accounts, or building their Indeed.com profiles.

Volunteer hours are from 1 – 4 p.m. on Thursdays. Digital literacy classes are informal; the main goal is to help trainees use computers and feel confident in their basic abilities.

The training is self-directed, with the facilitator(s) guiding and supporting each student.

A commitment to leading at least one 6-week digital literacy training is required.

For more information, please contact Teaching Kitchen Program Manager Allison Sequeira, at .

Additional Opportunities

Community Servings is proud to offer internship and volunteer opportunities for students enrolled in Nutrition Education or Dietetics classes.

HEALTH & SAFETY

For the safety of our staff and clients, all volunteers must be fully vaccinated. We also require face masks in our building at all times.

A member of our staff will check your vaccination card upon arrival and make a note of your status. A photo of your vaccination card is acceptable proof of your vaccination status.

Please remember that to enter our building as a volunteer, you must:

  • Feel 100% healthy
  • Be free of any symptoms, including a cough, fever, chills, body aches, chest congestion, shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, or diarrhea.
