Individual Volunteering

Volunteering During COVID-19

Kitchen volunteer shifts are currently Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Volunteers can expect to help with tasks like peeling and chopping vegetables, portioning and packaging food, and packing meal bags for delivery to our clients.

All volunteers must sanitize their hands and take their temperature when entering our building. If you have a temperature of 100.3°F or more, you will be asked to return home. Before entering our kitchen, you’ll wash your hands, and put on a hat or hairnet, apron, and protective gloves.

All kitchen volunteers are required to wear a close fitting cotton cloth or paper face mask during their shift. The mask must be worn at all times, covering both the nose and mouth. We ask that volunteers do not substitute a neck gaiter, bandana, or plastic face shield for a mask. Your mask should generally be thick enough that you cannot see through it when held up to a light. Due to a limited supply, we ask that you bring a clean face mask with you. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you on site.

Please note that as per guidance from the Commonwealth, all volunteers arriving from out of state travel must quarantine for 14 days or produce a negative COVID-19 test result that has been administered up to 72 hours prior to their arrival in Massachusetts. Travelers coming from lower-risk states as designated by the Department of Public Health (CT, ME,NY,NH,NJ, VT) are exempt from this policy and do not need to quarantine or produce a negative COVID-19 test.
