Esmeralda's Story

Your generous donation will help us reach people like Esmeralda and her family -
who would have had to otherwise face hunger, poverty and life-threatening illness alone.

Esmeralda has been a client since March 2008, when the hospital treating her leukemia-stricken daughter referred the family to Community Servings. Since receiving our meals, Esmeralda* has moved her family from a homeless shelter to an apartment in East Boston and is looking for a job. Her 7 year old daughter, Mallory* who has been fighting leukemia for over 4 years went into remission last month. She recently wrote us a heartfelt letter thanking us for providing her family with nutritious, home delivered meals.

Thank you for the service you have given us - we are thankful for all the help. It was a wonderful experience and was a great help for our family when we needed it. We liked the wonderful pastries and always waited for the food to come...Thank you for everything, but since every beginning has an end and we know that other people need this help, it's time to say goodbye.

It is so gratifying to be able to comfort our sick and hungry neighbors such as Esmeralda and Mallory, as they face the biggest crises of their lives.
